Paul Alexander

Pastor/Teacher

Paul grew up in a Christian home and was converted under the preaching of God’s Word when he was 12 years old. He began to sense the internal call to preaching and pastoral ministry when he was in 8th grade.

That internal call was confirmed through ministry experiences with his local church, student involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and then as a Campus Crusade staff member at Michigan State University.  Paul left the staff of Campus Crusade in 1999 to attend Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he  completed a Master of Divinity Degree in 2002.

In 2002-2003, he served as a pastoral intern under Mark Dever at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. and remained there to co-author The Deliberate Church (Crossway, 2005) with Pastor Dever.

After a brief pastorate in Palatine, Illinois, Paul began attending Grace Community Bible Church, where senior pastor, David Sunday, also confirmed his pastoral and teaching gifts.  Paul answered God’s call to be the Pastor/Teacher at FVBC in April of 2006.

Paul and his wife Laurie were married in 2004 and currently reside in S. Elgin. God has blessed them with two children, Olivia and Braden.

Dan Huff

Associate Pastor

Dan was born in Chicago, Il. and was raised in a military family as the Dan graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Music Performance and began a career as an opera singer. Through the witness of college friends, and their challenge to read through the Book he was so critical of, Dan prayed to receive Christ in 1975 while reading the New Testament.

Dan met his wife Toni, then Jewish, while doing his Masters work at California State University - Northridge. Dan was instrumental in leading Toni to Christ and they were married a year after her conversion.

Realizing an opera career would not be conducive to family life, Dan taught school for a number of years while actively serving in the music ministry at Grace Community Church in Panorama City, CA.  Dan was discipled into music ministry by Worship Pastor Clayton Erb and the teaching ministry of John MacArthur

Dan joined the staff of FVBC in 1991 as its first fulltime worship pastor.

Dan & Toni have 3 adult sons: Joshua is currently serving as a pastoral assistant to Doug Dunton at FVBC (he and his wife Moriah are expecting their second child in March 2008), Jeremy, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, and Jordan, currently a student at Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania.
